Stefano Parrino, flauto

After obtaining his diploma at the 'G.Verdi' Conservatory, Milan, Stefano studied with M. Larrieu at the Conservatoire Superieure of Geneva where he won the Prix de Virtuosite. Afterwards he studied under P. Gallois at the Ecole National de Musique in Paris where he gained the premier prix all'unanimite and le premier prix avec excellence. He also studied under P. Lukas Graf at the Accademia Internazionale 'L. Perosi' where he won the Eccellenza con Menzione Speciale. In 1996, he was awarded the Diploma of Advanced Studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London studying with W. Bennett, S. Bell, and K. Hill. In 2001 he obtained the Soloist diploma at the Lugano Conservatory. He has won numerous national and international competitions, including the Schubert competition (both as soloist and in chamber music), Endas, Cilea 1994, All Flutes Plus, Stresa, Colleferro, Pergolesi. He has also performed at masterclasses with J. Zoon, P. Gallois, P. Edmund-Davies, M. Cox, A. Adorjan, M. Debost, W. Bennett, M. Larrieu, S. Milan, P. L. Graf and A. Persichilli. He has undertaken a brilliant and intense career as a soloist, and as a chamber musician he collaborated with many distinguished artists. Stefano has acted as principal flautist in several orchestras, including the Royal Academy of Music Simphony and Sinfonia, the 'A.Toscanini' Orchestra, the Teatro Regio Orchestra, and the Solisti Veneti. He has worked with conductors such as P. Stark, L. Harrel, S. Barlow, L. Koeler, A. Allemandi, J. Kovachevic, M. Benzi, P. Olmi, A. Guadagno, G. Rath, E. Siffert. Alongside his busy concert activity, Stefano has also given master class on circular breathing and flute at the Conservatories of Novara, Campobasso, Monopoli, Padua, Venice, as well as at the Universita Catolica of Santiago (Chile), the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana of Lugano, the Orquestra Nacional Juvenil of Chile. Stefano has also been guest professor at the UCLA, Pomona College, UCSD, California School of Arts, Oberlin Conservatory of music, The University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Hartt School of Music and the Yale university in the United States, the RWCMD in Cardiff, the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, the Royal College of Music the Royal Academy of Music and the Trinity College of Music in London, the St Petersburg State Conservatoire, Russia, the Oulu Polythecnic in Finland and the Royal Conservatoire of Madrid, Spain. The second of August he performed as a soloist with the 'A.Toscanini' Orchestra conducted by Stephen Alltop, the concert has been broadcasted live on ‘Radio Rai’ channel 3. Stefano is chamber music professor at the A.Corelli Conservatoire of Messina, he is also chamber music and flute professor at the Kälviä Music Campus-Finland and at the Vitoria Gasteiz Music course.
